BorderFX 1.8.0

A new version of Aperture BorderFX has been released, this update includes support to create Collages in the BorderFX Edit plug-in. Other improvements include the ability to rotate text, including text watermarks. I will try to add support to rotate image watermarks in the next minor release.

I use Borderfx edit within Aperture. I am having trouble editing a caption that has already been saved to a picture. Sometimes I want to add more or correct existing details to a photo. Is this possible? Look forward to your reply.

I'm using BorderFX 1.8.0 (402) on Aperture 3.4.5 and OS X 10.9 DP4. During export via BorderFX I choose a new output location, but BorderFX doesn't save there. It comes up with a default location where I saved images some time prior (always the same place). I can choose a different location, but it won't save in the selected location. For example, it always comes up with my folder called "Annapolis" as the initial save location. I choose a different folder successfully, but BorderFX still saves in "Annapolis".

I see you released a new version: 1.8.1. Can you tell us what changed in this version?

Thanks!

1) I am having trouble with captions. If I change a caption in Aperture, is there any way that I can make it automatically change on the photo that has been edited using BorderFX??

2) If I want to remove the border and caption that has been added in BorderFX, it wont allow me. Is there any way of doing this??

I have problems within aperture. After exporting successfully a picture with a border and a text I try to export a new picture with another text. It is however impossible to change previous text. After some tentatives aperture craches. After a restart of aperture the same routine occurs ending with a crash.
I use latest versions of aperture and ios 10.7
Thanks in advance for your help.

I have OSX 10.8.4, Aperture 3.4.5 and BorderFX 1.8.1-402.
I process the RAWs (which are shot in AdobeRGB color space) with Nik software ("pre sharpener" and "output sharpener") and the output file is a TIFF (can't be anything different because that's how Nik works).
Then if I do some modifications in Aperture using the "Inspector" panel (such as saturation, sharpness or other values) and then send the TIFF to BorderFX to add the watermark and the frame, BorderFX DOESN'T keep the changes I made with the inspector panel.
Try to push the sharpness at the top, together with saturation and do some crop: the TIFF imported into BorderFX is gonna be always the original pre sharpness, saturation and crop.
The only way to avoid this is to first save the TIFF into JPEG, import the JPEG into Aperture, then do the modifications and then send it to BorderFX: in JPEG all the changes will be kept and the output from BorderFX will be as wanted.
It's kinda... annoying to export and import before using BorderFX: it should be reading all the mods in the TIFF directly.
Any ideas or tips about some hidden setting that I haven't found?
Otherwise the software is really nice.

Thanks.

Michele

Many many thanks for the update; really appreciate the free software you're providing.

The new collage thing is great - just a suggestion for the future: allowing custom final canvas sizes for the collage.

I have been using borderFX to export photos for viewing which require the photo numbers to be visible on them - since updating the latest MAC update maverick I no longer get the BORDERFX option within my iPhoto i have downloaded the latest borderFX for iPhoto but it still does not appear - How do I get my iPhoto to see BorderFX again?!

I'm also have some troubles with BroderFX for iPhoto in Maverics. I don't see an Export option anymore. I've tried to reinstall the package, but without success. How can I get iPhoto export working again?

I am having trouble with captions. If I want to edit/remove the border and/or caption on a photo BorderFX does not allow this. When will this be updated?
Otherwise it is a great programme.

Hi I have a problem in that when i export my photo from iphoto the watermark is appearing in a different poition, sometimes closer to the border or sometimes to the left or right.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I finally had a chance to take a look at this issue today, you are correct, it is exporting the watermark in the wrong position. I will try to release a fix for this in the next few days.
